About Counselling in Vancouver

Nazanin I have been working within the mental health field in Vancouver for over 7 years in various capacities. In my work, I draw upon my professional and personal experiences to enrich the process and be able to relate to what you might struggle with. For the past 4 years, I have had the opportunity to practice and learn under the direct supervision of Christine Waymark at Dragonstone Counselling , where I currently work as an associate counsellor.

My approach to counselling is guided by principles of Object Relations theory and neo-psychoanalysis within an intersectional feminist and anti-oppression framework. In other words, my practice is based on the premise that our affect and behavior are informed by patterns that we internalized as children. In other words, the way we learned to relate to our primary caregivers and the society as a whole can inform our relationships in adulthood. While we might revisit and reframe some of these internalized patterns to facilitate a more satisfying life, our initial sessions might be focused on addressing immediate concerns and creating the stability that is needed for securing long-term results.
